The beginning:
If anyone is
reading this blog, let's begin with an introduction. I am the Scarlet Ewok. Why you might
ask? Because I have reddish hair and
possible the largest collection of Ewoks in existence. In short, I am a nerd who enjoys hunting down
vintage and new toys to add to my collection.
I've been
collection action figures on and off for years.
I already had a collection of Lord of the Rings figures, but first
started collecting Ewoks about 2 summers ago.
It started with Wizard Con in Chicago.
That summer I had been helping my mom clean out our old farm house when
we came across a stack of old Wonder Woman comics from the 1950's (#52-60). Since they had no sentimental value (and I
was told they might be worth something), my family decided to try to sell
them. So my boyfriend and I made the
trip to Wizard to sell the comics and find some comics on his want list.
Within a few minutes, I had found a buyer and
made a good chunk of change to bring home.
Then the fun began. I wasn't
really looking for anything. But my eyes
came across a plush Paploo Ewok that had been re-released to celebrate the
anniversary of Star Wars. I loved it,
bought it, and it became the first Ewok in my collection. At the con we also bought a vintage Chief
Chirpa and a big stack of comics. And so
I began my quest to fill the Ewok Village (and my boyfriend returned to his
former nerdiness of collection comics and vintage Star Wars figures).
